A LITTLE BIT OF MY STORY
Hello! My name is Sammy Kopecky, a portrait, family, and event photographer in the Kansas City and Manhattan area. I currently attend Kansas State University and am majoring in Marketing and pursuing my Master's of Business Administration. I can't wait to get to know you better!
First, I'll tell you a little bit about my life outside of photography.
I am a Catholic and it is the root of who I am and what I do. One of my greatest desires is to live fully and abundantly alive, and I truly believe that is only possible through knowing the One who created me and letting him teach me how to do so (John 10:10). I am active at the St. Isidore's Center on K-State campus and at my local parish back in Kansas City. I LOVE shooting for Catholic events (and weddings :)), it adds an even deeper layer of beauty and goodness behind what I am shooting. If you would like to chat more about faith, I could talk for hours.
I am a daughter and a sister in an awesome family of four: my parents, my younger sister, and me. My family, put simply, is a family of master debaters–we can talk about anything and everything, take every side to each topic, and finish the conversation a few hours later than we had planned. I grew up learning how to communicate clearly, and effectively, and I truly believe it is one of the things that has helped me to manage those crazy family group photos and wedding day chaos!

Overall I’m a people person. I love being with people, around people, and getting to know people. Everyone has their own story and the more we get to know them is the more we grow ourselves. I probably have the coolest friends in the entire world, from all walks of life, and they make me the best version of myself.

If you don't know where to look for me, you can probably find me on a roof or on top of something tall. I just love being close to the sky, and any of my friends will tell you that the occurrence is far too frequent. I guess that's just what happens when you mix an adrenaline junkie with no fear of heights. :)

I absolutely LOVE sushi. I couldn't tell you why or how but I am always craving it (and rarely eating it!)

My favorite color is yellow, and I like to think my personality is yellow as well.

I’m obsessed with Ted-Talks because the idea that a person who has done extraordinary things can share them with the world is genius.

I love making connections and trying new things.

I really try to be a well-rounded person, it gives me a sense of balance and curiosity.
WHY I LOVE WHAT I DO
I've been interested in photography for as long as I can remember. I started learning the works of a camera just by taking photos of my friends or the views from my travels, and have kept shooting from then to where I am today.

I love photography, I think it’s beautiful that you can reveal the best version of someone that they may not even know exists. I’ve been grateful to have created a business from my passion, but at the root, I love what I do so it doesn’t even feel like work!
I started taking photos because I felt joy in the beauty of the people around me, and I had the ability to show that beauty to others. I believe photography can shape someone's perspective on the world.
